1. Information We Collect

Account information

Your email address, username, and password. Your password is handled by our authentication provider and is never visible to us in plain text.

Profile information

Anything you choose to add: display name, bio, avatar photo, and banner photo.

Content

Posts, replies, and images you upload, along with the date and time you posted them.

Activity

Who you follow, which posts you like, repost, reply to, or bookmark. This activity is used to personalize the "For You" feed and is not sold or shared with advertisers.

2. Cookies & Local Storage

OpenScroll uses one essential cookie to keep you signed in between visits. This cookie is required for the Service to function and is not used for advertising or tracking.

Your display preferences — color theme and font size — are stored only in your own browser's local storage. They are never transmitted to our servers and are not tied to your account.

OpenScroll does not use advertising cookies, third-party tracking pixels, or analytics cookies.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information described above to:

• Operate your account and keep you signed in.
• Display your profile and content to other users according to your settings.
• Personalize your feed based on who you follow and how you engage with posts.
• Send you in-app notifications, such as replies to your posts.
• Maintain the security and integrity of the Service.

We do not sell your personal information.

4. Third-Party Services

OpenScroll relies on a third-party infrastructure provider to store account data, posts, images, and to handle authentication securely on our behalf.

The Religious News sidebar displays headlines from outside news sources. Clicking a headline takes you to that outlet's website, where their own privacy policy applies. OpenScroll does not share your personal data with these outlets.

5. Data Retention & Deletion

We retain your account information and content for as long as your account remains active.

You can delete individual posts at any time. To request deletion of your account and associated data, contact us at the email below. We will process such requests within a reasonable time.

6. Data Security

We use industry-standard measures, including encryption in transit and access controls, to protect your information. No online service can guarantee absolute security, and we cannot promise that unauthorized access, loss, or misuse will never occur.

7. Children's Privacy

OpenScroll is not directed at children under 13, consistent with the eligibility requirements in our Terms of Service. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

8. Your Choices

• Update your display name, bio, avatar, and banner anytime in Edit Profile.
• Change your password anytime in Settings.
• Delete any post you've written.
• Adjust your color theme and font size in Settings — stored locally in your browser.
• Contact us to request a copy of your data or account deletion.

9. International Users

OpenScroll is operated from the United States. If you use the Service from outside the United States, your information may be processed and stored in the United States.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will become effective after notice is provided through the Service or by other reasonable means. Continued use of the Service after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
